The year was 1914, World War I, and the Germans and Russians met for battle in the Polish city of Lodz. The Russians military far exceeded that of the Germans, 500,000 troops as compared to the Germans 250,000. While there was confusion on both sides the overwhelming result was that the Germans prevailed in the battle with the Russians with the general Hindenburg being honored for his role.
