The coinage of Croesus is undoubtedly one of the more fascinating in the Greek series. Croesus was the first in the Western world to issue bimetallic coinage. His famous imagery of a lion facing a bull in a stand-off is replicated from the heavy gold and silver staters all the way down to a 1/96th stater in both metals.
