This very attractive example of a Philip II Posthumous tetradrachm comes from the collection of the MoneyMuseum in Zürich. This distinctive cultural institution is dedicated to exploring the history, meaning, and future of money. Unlike traditional numismatic museums, it presents money not only as an economic tool but as a cultural, psychological, and philosophical phenomenon, inviting visitors to reflect on their own beliefs and emotions surrounding value. Its exhibitions combine historical artifacts with modern interpretive approaches. One of its central displays is the Manesse Library of World Literature, a long running project (since 1944) that highlights the relationship between cultural heritage and the transmission of ideas, an unexpected but thought provoking complement to the museum’s monetary themes. The museum also features galleries on archaic means of payment, tracing the evolution of exchange from early gift economies to the first coins of ancient Greece and Asia Minor.
